Email support@jkstnote.app and you will reach a person — the one who wrote the app. It is a side project, so expect a reply in a few days rather than a few minutes.
Useful things to include: what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the app version from Settings › Version. Never send a screenshot with a secret revealed in it.
The questions that come up first
Where are my notes stored? Is there a web version?
On your iPhone, in the app’s own storage, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server, and no web version, so there is nothing to log in to and nothing to lose access to. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is stored and every way data can leave the phone.
I lost my recovery code. What can I do?
If you still have the iPhone and can unlock it, the code is not lost. Go to Settings › Backup & recovery › Show my code again; it takes a fresh Face ID check and shows you the same six words. Write them down this time, or print them from that screen.
Two cases where it really is gone. If you chose your own passphrase instead of the generated code, the app never stored it and cannot show it — that is the deliberate cost of picking your own; make a new one in the same place. And if the iPhone itself is gone, the code went with it, along with the ability to open your secret values on a new phone; your notes are still in your device backup, but their secret fields will not open. Nothing anyone can do recovers that, which is exactly why the code exists.
Why does the recovery code screen come up blank in a screenshot?
Because it is working. The six words are drawn in a layer iOS excludes from screenshots and screen recordings, so that a code cannot end up in your photo library or a shared recording. Write the words down on paper, or print them from that screen.
Why does it ask for Face ID again when I just unlocked the app?
Revealing or copying a secret always takes a fresh check, however recently you authenticated. Unlocking the app proves you got in; revealing a password proves it is still you, right now, holding the phone. This is not a setting.
My copied secret disappeared from the clipboard
It expires on purpose, after 60 seconds by default, and the app also clears it itself. Change the timer — 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 2 minutes, or never — in Settings › Security. Copied secrets are also kept off Universal Clipboard, so they never appear on your Mac or iPad.
Can I search my passwords?
No. Secret values are deliberately left out of the search index, so a password can never surface as a search result or in an export in readable form. Everything else in a note is searchable, including its type name and tags.
Can I make my own note types?
Yes — Settings › Note types. Add fields, choose each field’s kind, and mark it required, prefilled automatically, or secret. Editing a type never rewrites notes you already captured; they keep the shape they were captured in.
Does it work with Siri, the Lock Screen, or the Action button?
Not in version 1.0. Capture from the Lock Screen, Control Centre, the Action button, and the share sheet is the next release.
Can an AI assistant read my notes?
Not in version 1.0. A later version will be able to mirror your notes into your own iCloud Drive for an assistant on your own computer to read and add to. Secret values will stay encrypted, and reading one will need your approval on the phone with Face ID, every time.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
Not yet. Version 1.0 is iPhone, portrait, and deliberately small.
Reporting a bug or asking for a feature
Email support@jkstnote.app. Feature requests are welcome and honestly answered — including “no, that is not what this app is for”, which is a real answer for a tool whose whole point is that it stays small and fast.
If something is wrong with accessibility — VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, contrast, reachability — say so and it goes to the front of the queue.
